Happy New Year!

So, I stayed in Boston for winter break and went to New York for a weekend. One of my friends in NY, Natasha Jehangir, is a freelance photographer and an architechture student at New York Institute of Technology. We were walking around Times Square and I saw this dude chilling out by a drumset on the street. It was freezing cold and the wind chill was ridiculous but I just HAD to play drums on the street at Times Square. This has been the highlight of my winter break. Check it out...

The Power of Voice

So the summer is over and we are back to being fully submerged in music 24 hours of every single day. It is a beautiful world. I love being here. I love music school. I could go on for hours about the acceptance, the respect, the uniform ground that all of us musicians/college students share here at Berklee. But I won't...

Purity

I just got back from one of the most beautiful concerts that I have ever attended. It is safe to say that that was probably the best 2 hours of my life. My God. Today was Christiane Karam's New England Conservatory Master Recital. Christiane is from Lebanon. She completed her undergraduate studies from Berklee and then went on to pursue a masters degree in music at the New England Conservatory. Christiane is a self-made woman who has

My New Website

finally, after 4 months of yelling at my webdesigner, my OFFICIAL WEBSITE, is now online. yes. the unthinkable has occurred. Now there are still things that are wrong with the website. for instance, the main photograph is a still shot from a tv interview i did for a local music tv channel, where they thought it would be funny to bring me a toy gun as a welcome gift. on the website, ever so inappropriate, the gun looks freaking real...

Tragedy in Pakistan

The recent earthquake back home has left pakistan in a very sad helpless state. it is frustrating cause sitting here i cant do much to help them. still, the pak/indian community in boston are working things out and im pressing for a charity concert. lets see what happens. my email is overflowing with letters and fwded mails, one of them which id like to post up on the modern guitars journal. here it is...

Jam

This friend of ours KV also came along and we had an audience of like maybe 3 other people; zeb's bro . her friend and her cousin who came in, and told me he was in gauher's batch. everytime that happens i go 'oh no'. haha. anyway. we didnt jam as much as we talked but i generally had a great time. KV is a really talented guitarist and so is haniya man. going to berklee feels great but i will really miss being with my people. Excited about pink floyed at the Live 8, kv is pulling togther a cover of...

Watcha Doin (audio: Mr. Stranger)

today i was doing this songwriting assignment where we were supposed to compose and record a bluesy song in pentatonic scale like we did in the previous lesson. but the catch was that we had to experiment with at least two different instruments. so i had the one guitar recording of the first one. but i cant play any other freaking instrument. so anyway. ive done the assignment, its a god awful piano/keyboard version of my pentatonic bluesy song...

Angst

I was blog hopping and checking email. I was looking at my cell phone and wondering how my credit finished so soon. I was thinking that my 11 month older brother has finished his 4 year bachelor degree and I still have 4 months before I start mine. I sometimes wonder how long my bubble that shields me from the world will hold. I imagine people reading this and rolling their eyes. Another cliche passing over their glistening pupils...

March 16, 2005

Nothing very important has been going on except that I am lagging in my Berklee online classes and I try to catch up everyday. There is a Chinese girl in my song writing class who plays suchhhhh pretttyyyyy piaaano. I wait for her to upload her weeks assignment and then i just sit there listening on repeat going Haaiii. You know, hers are like those piano melodies that are rich and innocent and wonderfully played. A little out of beat, a little half measure late... but so enchanting and pretty...

Welcome to My Journal!
