Phrygian mode for Shredders!!!!

This lesson is for the Lead shredder's who want to add some spice to their playing using the dark and menacing Phrygian Mode.

In example 1 the E Phrygian Mode is being used over an Eminor chord. The Phrygian mode formula is 1 b2 b3 4 5 b6 b7

Chordal Harmony for Phrygian mode is Emin7 FMaj7 G7 Amin7 Bmin7b5 CMajor7 DMinor7 - These can be used as power chords also for metal writing.
Eg - E5 F5 G5 A5 B5 C5 D5

1 ----------------------------

4 ----------------------------
5 --2--3--5--7--9--10-12--14--
6 --0--1--3--5--7--8--10--12--
    E5 F5 G5 A5 B5 C5 D5  E5

( E F G A B C D E) = E Phrygian - You will notice this contains the same notes as C Major.

'QUICK FACT' If your are in Fret 12 on Eminor and you count back 4 frets you have a C note. You can use this C Major scale and focus
on the E notes to create E Phrygian.
